I grew up in a small town in Ohio just a couple of blocks from Lake Erie. The only way to reach the public library, one of my favorite places, was through a dark, damp tunnel that ran underneath the main road. I went there all the time and probably read almost every book they had. That should have been a clue that I would grow up to become a librarian.
Being a librarian is one of the best jobs in the world. Where else do you get to spend your days surrounded by books, read and tell stories to children, and talk to kids about books and recommend the ones they might like?
The fact that now I am writing some of those books is icing on the cake.
